Carrossel Produções is a production company of global stories and a platform for international co-productions. Founded in Lisbon by award-winning Director and Producer Ana Sofia Fonseca, whose career spans over 25 years, the company focuses on producing documentary feature films and high-end unscripted series. 

Carrossel Produções is distinguished for combining a solid knowledge in cinema and journalism, which is reflected in its high level production quality. Within a global perspective, we stand out for our knowledge of Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries. Its latest documentary film, ‘CESÁRIA ÉVORA’ (2022), has conquered audiences and critics all over the world. 

Carrossel’s feature-length films have been screened in over 60 film festivals, including SXSW, IDFA, Doc NYC, Jeon Ju, It’s All True, Indie Lisboa, Festival do Rio, Sheffield Doc Fest, Encounters South Africa. It has been awarded with several prizes, nominated for IDA Awards and shortlisted by the Focal International Awards. Its productions have had television and theatrical releases in several countries, from Portugal to the Netherlands and France.
